The School Day

The school day begins at 8.55. The school gates are opened at 7.45 for Breakfast Club children. There is no one to supervise children in the playground before 8.55 as all the staff are at a morning briefing. If you do decide to leave your child in the playground before that time please be aware that they remain your responsibility until it is time to come in.

Children should line up outside their classroom door at 8.55 and wait for their teacher to open the classroom door for them to come in.

Please ensure your child/children arrive punctually. Late arrivals disrupt the class and the learning of the child. We have an attendance officer who frequently visits the school and monitors punctuality and attendance closely. We have worked very hard to get our attendance levels up – children cannot learn what they need to know if they are not in school.

Key Stage 1 Key Stage 2

School finishes at 3.30pm. Parents/carers are asked to wait in the playground next to their child’s classroom, teachers will dismiss children at the classroom door. If you are unable to pick up your child yourself and have arranged for another adult to pick them up you must let the school know in advance either by introducing that person to the class teacher or by calling the general office. Children who are left at the end of the day must be picked up from the office area, their names are recorded in the late book and you will need to sign be signed out.

We are very conscious of the need to keep our children safe and it is for this reason and no other that you may at times find it hard to get into the school building. We ask that you are patient with us. It is also important for security reasons that we know who is in school at all times. Other than at the beginning and end of the day you will need to enter the school through the main entrance gate in Monteagle Way and report to the school office when you come in. Please do not enter the school through the classrooms to get to the office. Visitors to the school are asked to sign in and out and wear a badge whilst they are in the school building so that they are easily identifiable to everyone.
