We are learning about our families past and present, The different names we call our family members. We are learning about our heritage and where our ancestors, relatives and family come from even though we are all living in England. We will locate the different continents on the map and learn a song to remember them.

We are learning about tales and where they come from. How storytelling has travelled from generation to generation. How important storytelling for building literacy. 
We are learning how different people celebrate Christmas and other celebrations that people celebrate during the winter seasons such as Diwali, All souls day, Hanukkah and  Kwanza

We are learning about where we live our community of Hackney and around our school. We are also learning that we live in the city of London and that it is the capital of England. We will talk about winter and different animals that are nocturnal and hibernate. We will remember the continents and oceans. We will learn that the weather changes and is compare London weather to other parts of the world  such as Africa.

We are learning about Pirates and Great Explorers. We are also learning who Pirates were, what they did and why they did these things. We will learn about the meaning of the word piracy.  We will learn about the five oceans of the world were you would find them on the map. We will learn vocabulary such as explorer, maps, treasure, confident and compass. We will then go on to learn about the great explorers of the world and ones that travelled by land, sea, ice, space and air. We will look mainly at the explorer Matthew Henson.
